The Flint Hills Discovery Center is planned to open in April
2012. And until then, the construction site will be a temporary
gallery celebrating all that is unique within this region.
Artists throughout the 22 counties of the Flint Hills painted
panels to hang on the construction fence.
Coordinated by the Flint Hills Tourism Coalition, each county
worked with student and adult artists to depict special aspects
for each place. Additionally, students painted scenes of the
Flint Hills during field trips to the Konza Preserve and in
summer camps around the region to commemorate this project. |
