New StoryWalk® October 3-31

The StoryWalk® begins and ends at the Flint Hills Discovery Center (FHDC). Story pages are numbered and are spread throughout the windows of downtown Manhattan businesses. Click here for a map, or view it below.

Once you complete your StoryWalk®, return to the Flint Hills Discovery Center (during open hours) for your copy of the book (while supplies last, during regular admission hours).

What is a StoryWalk®

A StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. It is a progressive story walk with laminated pages of a children's storybook placed at regular intervals.

StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 13 countries including Germany, Canada, England, Bermuda, Russia, Malaysia, Pakistan and South Korea.

StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and has developed with the help of Rachel Senchal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Learn more here:

The Dot by Peter H Reynolds

Vashti doesn't believe she has any artistic ability, but her teacher encourages her to "just make a mark and see where it takes you". Vashti quickly discovers she really can make her mark in the world. The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds is recommended for ages 3-7.
